The Mayday Reef Rocket is our flagship topwater lure — and it earned that title the hard way. Years of research, testing and refinement went into getting it right.

The result is a shallow-cupped popper that's exceptionally easy to fish. The shallow cup cuts drag, so the lure moves freely and responds instantly to every sweep of the rod.

A small protrusion on the chin works like the hull of a boat — channelling water sideways to create maximum spray on a medium sweeping action. Fish it hard and fast and it tracks cleanly, holds its line, and dives just enough to produce a distinctive suction sound. That sound triggers strikes.

When trolled for big tuna and billfish, the Reef Rocket tracks true behind the boat without spinning. It carries a slight wiggle, surfaces every few seconds, and leaves a formidable bubble trail in its wake.
