Mayday Fishing started in 2023 in an empty box trailer parked in founder Dean’s driveway. The mission: build a lure to catch a fish.
Countless late nights of R&D later, that one lure became a business run by a four-man crew from the southern tip of Africa.
Every Mayday lure is hand-shaped, hand-painted, and water-tested before it ships. No mass production. No shortcuts.

Sprat-style stickbait with a stickbait action. Solid epoxy + cast lead belly. Two tow points, belly and tail. Perfect when smaller baitfish are on the menu.
170mm Mayday Menace

The Reef Rocket Range
The Reef Rocket earned its place as our flagship topwater lure after years of research, development and testing. A unique shallow-cupped face reduces drag and responds instantly to every sweep — creating explosive spray, distinctive suction sound, and triggered strikes. Trollable for big tuna and billfish. Available in four sizes.

At 120mm and 35g, it’s the versatile all-rounder of the range — equally at home in the estuary or the ocean. It’s the go-to for Leervis and Yellowtail, and has surprised more than a few customers with solid takes from Tigerfish, Largemouth Bass and Peacock Bass when taken into freshwater.

At 150mm and 70g, this is the open-ocean workhorse of the range — sized and weighted to handle serious bluewater targets. Yellowtail, Dorado, Kingfish, Roosterfish, smaller GT, Spanish Mackerel, Wahoo — if it hunts on the surface, this lure will get its attention.

Shipping
Ships from Cape Town via courier. SA next-day available. International 14-21 days. Freight costs calculated at order stage.
Lead Times
Standard range: 2–3 weeks from order confirmation, we usually hold stock so immediate stockage is possible. Custom orders: 2-3 weeks. We'll always confirm lead times at time of order.
